Arojah Theatre

A professional theatre outfit which grew out of a deep and genuine concern to employ the fullness of the arts as a social force. One of the aims and objectives of this group is to use its medium, in alliance with organizations committed to a better society, to forge a better tomorrow.

Arojah Royal Theatre is an affiliate member of a handful of national and international cultural organisations among which are the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP, International Association of Performing Art for Children & Young Audience, Assitej Nigeria, Arterial Network Nigeria, INDRA Congress (UK), National Council for Arts & Culture, National Institute for Cultural Orientation, Society of Nigerian Theatre Artistes (SONTA), International Theatre Institute (through NANTAP), International Association of Theatre Critics (Nigerian Chapter).

About us

Arojah Royal Theatre (ART) is an Abuja based professional theatre outfit which grew out of a deep and genuine concern to employ the fullness of the arts as a social force.

Our History

ART was established in 2007 but turned truly professional in October 2010 with the production of a Human Right advocacy play, The Killing Swamp, written by the late Adinoyi Onukaba Ojo.

Arojah Royal Theatre seeks to produce theatre of the highest standard that consistently illuminates, entertains and challenges.
  • Killing Swamp

    The Killing Swamp is an imaginative dramatization of the final hours of Kenule Saro Wiwa.

  • Dancing Grave

    The play is set in Toru-Ama, a community in Bayelsa State, South-South Nigeria.

  • The Divorce

    Wale Ogunyemi’s THE DIVORCE, sponsored by EXXONMOBIL and directed by Jubilee Ahmed was staged in December 2011 to end the year.
